Empowering Ethnic Minority Businesses through Branding and Digital Solutions

In the bustling heart of London, where diversity thrives, The Heart of the City charity and Minority Supplier Development UK joined forces to launch the Minority Businesses Matter (MBM) Programme. Backed by the UK Government and The Mayor’s Office, this innovative partnership aims to empower ethnic minority businesses (EMBs) and freelancers by addressing the challenges they face when accessing public and private sector business opportunities.

Being a minority-owned business ourselves, we resonated with the program's mission. At Jensen & Jensen, diversity, empowerment, and inclusion are integral to our personal values. Partnering with MSDUK and Heart of the City to support the MBM program was a natural alignment of purpose.

Brief

The Challenge

The MBM Programme had ambitious goals: to foster connections between EMBs, corporations, and public sector procurement teams, to promote diversity, and to create a visual identity that genuinely reflected empowerment and inclusion.

1. Crafting a Distinctive Visual Identity

Our mission was to forge a visual identity that would symbolise diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our design team dedicated themselves to crafting a logo and brand elements that would resonate with EMBs and effectively convey the program's mission.

2. Building a Responsive MicrositeTo ensure accessibility and ease of engagement, we designed a user-friendly microsite. It features essential information about the MBM Programme, a data capture form for businesses to provide vital information, and a booking system for appointments with Business Advisors. The microsite serves as a hub for connecting EMBs with valuable resources and opportunities.

3. Elevating Brand Presence at the MSDUK Business & Innovation Show 2023

For the UK Business & Innovation Show 2023, we created an impactful booth presence. Our team designed eye-catching pop-up banners, flyers, and promotional materials that showcased the essence of MBM, attracting attendees and fostering meaningful connections.

Inclusivity and Celebration Through Content

Every touchpoint of the MBM branding aimed to inform, educate, and engage. We developed content that celebrated London's diverse communities, highlighting their vital contributions to economic growth.
